Rush Amusement
So today was the first day of summer rush. It wasn't very hectic at all. Anyway there was this kid who came up to give me his backpack. His jacket had spikes and nails on it. I made comment that someone could get hurt on his jacket. Especially if they got too close. He told me that was the purpose...to keep people from getting too close to him. I told him that I wasn't getting any closer.

First Eats
We had radishes out of the garden today. The first harvest of the garden this year. It always amazes me how quick radishes come ready.

Audrey?
It's a girl. Cassie had an ultrasound at the beginning of the month. The tech wasn't positive if it was a girl or a boy, but thought it was a girl. Then they determined that Cassie was a little low on amniotic fluid so she got to go for another ultrasound with a specialist. This tech said it most definitely is a girl. The specialist said everything looked good and the baby was healthy so far. The normal doctor seems concerned that the baby is small, but the specialist wasn't really. She gets another ultrasound done in August to watch that.
I took Cassie to the last ultrasound so I got to see little Audrey(name may change a few times between now and birth) already. :)

Salvage Yard
So Jodi and I went to the salvage place today to try and find screens for the 10th St house. The guy had a lot of screens tucked in some wooden boxes packed in amongst windows. The wooden boxes were back by the dog kennel so the German Shepherd barked at us the whole time we were there. He was just doing his job. While I was telling him what a good dog he was, Zach was telling him to shut up. Zach really is scared of dogs, but seemed to do okay with a dog in a kennel. The guy had told is good luck finding any that would fit and I guess he was right. We did not find any that fit.
I guess there are kits at Walmart that you can create your own. That may be our next project is to get one and see if that works. Jodi wants to be able to leave bedroom windows open at night without bugs coming in.

A Horse
Last year we went up to my neighbors house a few times to pet her horses. She told Elizabeth that she could come ride one some Saturday. Well the rainy season started about then so we never got up there. Spring is finally here, so Elizabeth reminded me that that offer had been made. So I went and talked to the neighbor. We worked out a good Saturday, which was today. Over the winter the neighbor got a new horse and she is named Breeze. Elizabeth got to ride her as she is the most mellow of the three. Elizabeth needed a boost to get up on her. She rode for about half an hour. Next time she gets a bridle so Elizabeth can "steer". Elizabeth said she felt really tall. Well Breeze is pretty tall.

Garden News
Well the rest of the garden is in, except for some baby cucumber plants that are still too small. I finally felt motivated enough last night to haul the tomatoes and squashes down to the garden and plant them. I went ahead and watered even though it looked like rain. Woke up this morning to rain so the garden is getting a good drink. :) If the weather forecast is correct I won't have to water for the next couple of weeks. Love free watering from above.

Done
I think I am done helping Jodi move. She still has an assortment of odds and ends, but she can move those in her car. Now she can settle in and I can clean my house. It looks like I have neglected it for the last two weeks. Whew.

Art Walk
Elizabeth and I went on the First Friday Art Walk last night. We didn't take addresses to we didn't find a lot. We did see a skit at The Magenta Theater, glass blowing at the Firehouse Gallery, and strange art at the sixth street gallery. We had an unsatisfactory dinner at Peppers so ended up at Burgerville by the end of our night. When we first arrived a drum group was playing and we could hear them blocks away. She thought that was pretty neat.
10th St. House
The work is mostly done. There are some finishing touches that need to be done but the house is ready. As you can see from the kitchen picture Jodi is moving stuff slowly. I know she is going to enjoy living there once she gets settled in. And then once she is settled in it will be a long time before she moves again. :P
Field Trip
I had the honor of attending a field trip with Elizabeth. We went to the Fort Vancouver. Since I was an "extra" the only person I had to worry about besides myself was Elizabeth. I didn't have to ride the bus and that worked out well since I needed to be back home before the bus. It has been several years since I have been to the Fort. They have added a few more buildings and the garden was wonderful. Elizabeth said she liked the garden too.
