Rolling Pin

My rolling pin that I have had forever is cracking. Yes I know I should not wash it in the dishwasher. Anyway a few weeks back I was at the farmer's market and saw french rolling pins that were beautiful. Didn't buy one as I had already spent my allotted farmer's market money. Went back the next weekend and the guy wasn't there. Looked up the market online to see what I could find about him. His website is https://forestcreekwoodworking.net/ I ended up emailing him to find out when he would be local.

So Saturday I ventured on down and bought me a nice new french rolling pin. I'm infatuated. Waiting patiently for the mood to strike for me to use it.

I also bought some flowers while I was there.

Pictures

So we had an appointment for a photographer to come over to take 18 month photographs of Audrie. I know she is 19 months now. Anyway....we had decided to do outside shots here as toddlers are more comfortable in their home environment. Well the day started off promising. Clouds but no rain. Ha. First Audrie picked on Mica and got scratched on her face. Then it rained and rained and rained. Dave needed to mow wherever we were going to shoot, and that is hard to do when it was that wet. While waiting to see if the photographer was going to show up Audrie climbed on Minnie, who proceeded to push her off with her foot. Yup nice claw mark on the other side of her face. No pictures happened this week. Guess we'll try again next week.

Jacob Bought Flowers

I arrived at work and was passing Ali in the hallway. She was carrying a bouquet of flowers. I asked her if they were from her yard and she said no, that Jacob had given them to her. Wow. It was her birthday today and that was his gift. I think maybe he took the little chat we had about your mother is always your mother to heart. I'm glad.

Eye Update

Pretty soon it will be old news so I thought I better blog. I went to the eye doctor last week. The goal is for me to be weaned off Avastin. Checking my grid, everything looks good to me. So I went to the appointment not expecting a shot. They did both tests this time, one a computer scan and the other is pictures of the eye. So we looked at the pictures. The last time I had the pictures done was right after my first series of three shots but before I recurred. The scar tissue was twice the size in the new pictures. He was pretty sure it was from the recurrence but because there were no pictures we don't know for sure. Then the computer scan showed a little something wonky. So I got a shot. I go back in three more weeks for a new scan and then back to my twelve week intervals. Guess we wait and see if the goal is still to wean me off the Avastin. And I had a devil eye this time. That makes three times for that. I guess it you consider I've had something like 14 shots now it isn't too bad. And this time the numbing shot did NOT sting. That was amazing.

Petting Zoo

The local outdoor market had a small petting zoo this weekend. We all packed into the car so Audrie could experience it. She seemed to enjoy it. I'm not sure if she like the animals or the other kids best.

After the petting we walked around the market. Mostly crafts at this time of the year. I did manage to buy a cucumber and a garden candy tomato plant.

After that I ran downtown Vancouver to buy a french rolling pin from the wood guy. Just my luck...he wasn't there this weekend. Oy. Maybe next time.

North Again

Audrie and I did the north I-5 run on Wed. We went up and had lunch with her Aunt Treva and cousin Corby. We haven't made the run since early in Feb. It was kind of weird not to take a prison exit.
Anyway we met in Puyallup. Treva and I got Mongolian Grill and took the kids to Burger King. They ate their lunch and played in the play structure. Treva and I visited. It was very nice. I like her so much. Wish they lived closer so we could do that more often. Neither of us is likely to move so I guess we just see each other every couple of months or so. Audrie loves playing with Corby.
We stopped in Longview on the way and visited with my great Aunt Cris. She hadn't seen Audrie since last fall. She looked good. Caught me up on all the family drama in her life. I caught her up on the drama in mine.
It was a nice day.

Made An Impression

I pass through life pretty quietly. So last night I decided it was pizza night. Went to the local Papa Murphy's and got a pizza. While waiting a young employee came out of the back to work in the front and goes "Hi Dawn." I say hi back and look at him. Trying to figure out if he is one of Myk's friends. Nope too young. The other gal working looks at him and asks who he is talking to...as I said I am quiet. He points to me and says "Dawn." I agree and say I must get too many pizzas if he knows my name. So they make my pizza and as he hands it to me he says "Mushroom free". Ah. Last time I was in I had stopped him from putting mushrooms on my pizza. If I catch them before they do it it saves time. I want no fungus on my pizza. And last time I also said I didn't care what they did to Dave's side of the pizza as long as my side didn't include fungus. I made such an impression that he remembered my name off the paper they use to tell them what to make.

It Makes Me Angry

I have been trying to reconcile what I know should happen and what will happen. I have a friend who is gay. His parents are now pressuring him to marry a girl from their home country to bring over here so she can work for free in their restaurant. They said her parents were going to pay some money for this to happen and they offered my friend and his partner money for this to happen. Seriously?? Setting aside the fraud for the green card....how can my friend condone her being a slave? He posted on facebook about saving a girl from the horrors of trying to find a rich husband. Seriously?? How is marrying a gay man who isn't rich and working for free better? My understanding is their culture doesn't believe in divorce...so this is better for her how? I lost a lot of respect this week and if he does this, I'm not sure I can condone it by eating in their restaurant anymore.
An aside..my other friend, the partner, said hell no to the money. Makes me respect and love him even more.

Elizabeth Day

Elizabeth day started a tad late yesterday. Elizabeth had marching band practice until 5 p.m. Papa, Audrie and I picked her up and we ventured off to the nursery. We bought our tomatoes, squashes, onions and potatoes for the garden. Then since it was Cinco de Mayo we went out to El Rancho Viejo for dinner. The place was packed and stayed that way the entire time we were there. I guess everyone had the same idea as us.

Audrie wasn't feeling too well this week. We had plans to go to Buckley, but her cousins also weren't feeling too well. So that trip has now been postponed until next week. Guess that will be an Audrie day. :)

Adrianna Day

Having an extra day off in the middle of the week gave me a wild hair. Cassie, Audrie and I picked up Adrianna this morning and we headed to Kid's Club. In Kid's Club is a swimming pool, a gymnasium and a big play structure. We were there for the play structure. We timed it great. It wasn't busy as all when we arrived which allowed Audrie and Nana to be slow playing. Adrianna loved the slides and did it over and over and over. Audrie did it about four times and once on the big snake slide with Mommy. There was a little kid section and Audrie played in there for awhile with another boy. Good thing there were two adults to keep up with the two kids going in different directions. There was a ball area that did amazing things, but Audrie didn't really like it. Adrianna did though.

About the time Nana and Audrie were pooping out a lot more people arrived. So we had good timing on leaving also.

Growing

Audrie had her 18 month check-up today. She gained 2.4 pounds and grew 1.25 inches since her WIC appt. April 6th. Can we say growth spurt? Everything looks good. She is right where she is suppose to be in development.
