I babysat Adrianna on Tuesday. Tanya wanted to go to Kenny Pawski's first appearance on his vehicular homicide charge. He was booked and released and got his court appointed attorney.
Adrianna was just fine for me.
It just seemed so wrong today. Mom had her second cataract surgery. We left the clinic at 4:45p.m. which put us in the beginning of rush hour traffic. We were able to use the carpool lane. There was no one in that lane but us for quite a ways. So we got to cruise along at 55 mph while the other two lanes were creeping along. We figured the state patrol must have been cracking down on single drivers using the carpool lane since it was so empty. So we were back to our town within half an hour. While it felt wrong using the carpool lane, I'm not complaining about our short commute.
Elizabeth and I attended the last concert in our series. We were truly amazed at this group of kids playing violins. Especially the little bitty kids. What natural talent they must have. We enjoyed the youth choir and several of the songs. They did a number that won a local award for a teenager. We didn't like it. Elizabeth thought the music was "violent" and I thought it would go good with a slasher movie.
Myk and Cassie have moved back in with us for awhile. It is all right, but I already miss the peace and quiet. Ah well I will be an empty nester again someday. I knew this was going to happen when Mittens came to stay for awhile.

Garden
Yesterday it was 60 degrees here. Makes me feel like gardening. Now it is much too soon, but we can start thinking about it. I went to Fred Meyers and picked up my seed. That leaves the little plants, onion sets and seed potatoes yet to get.

Why
Thursday was my Elizabeth day. We try to go out for dinner every other week. Sometimes we eat at home. Anyway while we were eating out she wanted to know why I cook so much. What she wanted to know was why I cook from scratch so much. So I tried to explain to her that food from scratch tastes better and is better for you. I also touched on the cheaper aspect. I'm not against prepackaged food as a rule. I just don't use a lot of them. I want my lasagne, not some frozen substitute. I love homemade macaroni and cheese. Kraft just does not compare. At my house we eat vegetables and not just ones from cans (that was what started the conversation...why I don't use cans). In the summer those veggies come from the garden. I guess I want my food to taste good.

I'm grateful for friends who will go for a walk with me. Jodi and Zach have taken up the slack while Dave is out of town. Today we walked over to the park where they have this climbing rock. Elizabeth and Zach climbed it. Zach was more than willing to jump off it, but his mom said no. Elizabeth had to think about it long and hard and then did finally jump.

Eye Update
I had another eye dr. appt. today. This time they did another computerized test to measure the back of my eye. The doc said it is looking better. The lesion is smaller and the thickening less. So that means it wasn't my imagination that I seem to be seeing things better that are close to me. Still have a good fuzzy spot looking out while I'm driving, but maybe that will get better in time also. Then to top off my appt. I got another injection. The numbing shot bothered me a bit more than last time, but everything else was fine. And this time I only look hungover with really bloodshot eye. I'm not devilish this time. I go again at the beginning of April for the third of my three shot series. Then we play it by ear.

Bummer
Myk and Cassies' apartment got broken into. Someone busted in the door and stole their PS2 and all the games. They are pretty sure it is someone they know. I'm pretty sure of that too. Just as I was pretty sure the person who tried to break into our house several years ago was an acquaintance of Myk's.

The Field Kitchen Revisited
This is my friend Sandy. She started her own business last summer. She runs a catering truck that has the best turkey club wrap ever. I posted about it last summer. Posted a couple of pictures with my words. Today she sent me email letting me know that she harvested those pictures off my blog to put on her business website. Cool. Here is the link if you want to check out her website.
Old Things
Sunday I went to an estate sale. Just looking for treasures. I didn't find any to buy, but as I was walking back to my car I spotted this dodge. Now I pondered it as to what would be the right thing to do....forget it or take my camera out and try to take a picture of it. Well the picture won out. As I was trying, and not succeeding, at not getting the white car in the picture a man arrived and commented on what a great subject. I agreed. Took a few more pictures and they mostly turned out. Now what was kind of funny was that the estate was for a professional photographer who had her own studio and everything. And here she had great things in her yard to take pictures of.

Gratitude
Today I am thankful for the sun. It is a beautiful day. Dave and I went for our fourth walk this week. Trying to get in some exercise while that sun is out. It is good for his SAD and just good for me. We drive to town and walk around neighborhoods. Our road is pretty treacherous to walk on. It is like taking your life in your hands and hoping for the best. Neighborhoods are much safer.

Adrianna
When I downloaded the pictures of Frank I found this one of Adrianna. I had forgotten about it. I took it the afternoon we babysat her. She was actually amused for a moment with her nilla wafers.
Meet Frank
This is Frank Sinatra. He is Betty and Les's new cat. They got him at the humane society a few days ago. They decided that it was time for another cat. I think Betty is very happy that Les seems to be over his cat allergy. :) Frank is so named because he talks and croons quite a bit. He appears to be just about a year old.
