When Mom bought her house she took out a small mortgage.  There were some things she wanted done to the house and she used the money for that. 
Fast forward.  That deed of trust still shows on public record.  The title company tried to get info from the bank but they could not find the loan at all and said it must have been sold.  So the lady from the title company and I did a three way call with that company and naturally they could not find anything either.  So the plan was that company would keep looking. 
Well as I go through stuff I found an old credit report Mom had run and it showed that mortgage.  Now we have an account number and should be able to make headway.  The funny thing was I had commented she wouldn't have had that little mortgage very long.  It was a 15 year one.  The credit report was run just before she was 18 months into it and she had already paid over half.
