On this day of day for fathers I thought I would share this story. I hadn't thought about it.
On the day we went to first Friday at the Children's Museum. We had taken Adrianna with us. She is the littles' cousin. Once they all settled down they started having a conversation in the back seat. I just drove and listened.
The littles considered Papa to be their Dad. After all we were raising them and we were the parents in the house.
They started off asking Adrianna if she missed Papa now that he had died. And of course she had. They made some comment about Dad and she pops up with her dad died too. Oy. My heart did a little drop. Adrianna doesn't remember her dad since she was only 9 months old when he died. But she knows what she is missing. The littles continued on and then told Adrianna that they miss her dad also.
Sometimes they need to process at a kid level and they can only do that with other kids. Maybe that conversation was good for all three of them.
So Happy Father's Day Papa and Jason. Your children miss you and love you. Keep watch over them from your perch up high.
