I am the first to admit that I am not observant at all. I have to really be paying attention to see things. So one night last week we were driving to Orchards just after dusk. It was dark, but not quite black. And I noticed this cop car at a house on 503. We were acquaintances of the owner a long while back, so I noticed....this time. The next house up is an abandoned mobile home and there were many cop cars. But it's all dark. No lights anywhere. I thought it odd but didn't give it another thought.
A couple of days later we were returning home from Orchards and we passed the acquaintance house and it is dark. It's really dark outside, but you can still make out outlines. And dang that house looked ghostly, spooky. Empty. Wait...what? That can't be right.
But it was. Paid attention the next time I drove by in the daytime. Front door open, a couple of windows gone. Still looked spooky. And then I drove by today and the porch roof has completely collapsed. That takes time. And yes, it looks spooky, ghostly. Very very empty.
According to the county the building has no value....yeah I got that. Several pieces of property right there have been bought up by a company that is obviously eventually planning on developing.
Makes me wonder how long the house had been empty before I ever noticed. I drive by it all the time.
